在表示“盡頭”的時(shí)候，dead end是口語(yǔ)中常用的一種表達(dá)。與end相比，dead end更有“死胡同”，一條路走到底的意味。此外，dead end也可以引申為“困境；絕境”的意思，比如，His greediness drove him to a dead end. “他的貪得無(wú)厭把他逼入了絕境”。
