一.accuse of：譴責，控告
e.g.:All three have fallen out with the Nationals, whom they accuse of failing country folk.
這三人都和全國黨鬧翻，并指責全國黨沒考慮鄉民的利益。
二.have an affair：有外遇；通奸；婚外戀
affair愿意指“意外”，說某人有了個意外的情況，意思就是說這人有了婚外戀。因此，have an affair意為“有外遇；通奸；婚外戀”。
e.g.:I felt bad for Joan when Jack started to have an affair last year.
杰克去年開始在外面有外遇。 我為瓊感到很難受。
三.avoid：vt.避免, 逃避, [律]使無效,撤銷
【語法用法】
avoid后可接動名詞，不可接不定式。
You had better avoid reading in the train.
你最好避免在地鐵上閱讀。
句中的reading不可改成to read。
avoid指“避免（成功）”，若是企圖避免卻失敗的，不可用avoid。
I avoided meeting him, but somehow bumped against him.
句中我企圖避免見他，卻還是撞上了，不可單用avoid，需把avoided改成tried to avoid。
指得注意的是，“避免”和“防止”有這本質上的區別，兩者不可混用。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: He picks early to avoid the wine becoming fat and blowsy.
訂正: He picks early to prevent the wine becoming fat and blowsy.
翻譯: 為了防止葡萄酒過濃，過重，他采摘得比較早。
分析: 區別“避免”和“防止”，不能說避免葡萄酒過濃，而是防止。
【例句用法】
He is a fugitive from justice trying to avoid being caught by the police.
他是逃犯，正試圖逃避警方的追捕。
If we are to avoid defeat we need a change of leadership.
我們要避免失敗的話，就要換掉領導人。
四.cheat on：對...不忠
e.g.:Do you cheat on your taxes?
