詞匯精講：

1.alone

Exp. without any companions 無伴; 獨自; 孤單; 孤獨

Eg. I don't like going out alone after dark.

我不愿意天黑后獨自外出。

Eg. She lives all alone in that large house.

她獨自一人住在那所大房子里。

2.solitude

Exp. the state of being alone, especially when you find this pleasant 獨居，隱居，荒僻之地, 幽靜的地方

Eg. She enjoys the solitude of her own flat.

她喜歡獨自在自己的公寓里。

2.dependent

Usage: ~ (on/upon sb/sth)

Exp. needing support from sb 需要某人支持的; 依靠的; 依賴的

Eg. Mary is a woman with several dependent children.

Eg. Many students who have gratuated form his universtiy is dependent on one's parents nowadays.

3.subordinate

Usage: ~ (to sb)

Exp. lower in rank or position 級別或職位較低的; 下級的

Eg. He was always friendly to his subordinate officers.

他對下級官員一向和藹可親。

Eg. Sixty of his subordinate officers followed his example.

他的60個下級官員都以他為榜樣。

4.plain

Exp. not decorated or luxurious; ordinary and simple

不矯飾的; 樸素的; 普通的; 平凡的; 簡單的

Eg. Three officers in plain clothes told me to get out of the car.

三名便衣警官叫我從車上下來。

5.suit

Exp. be right or beneficial for (sb/sth) 對（某人某事物）合適或有利

Eg. This climate doesn't suit me.

2.neither ... nor

基本用法一：用于連接兩個表示并列關系的名詞，用于否定兩者，其意為既不……也不……

Eg. It’s neither too cold nor too hot.天氣既不太冷也不太熱。

Eg. Neither boys nor girls are interested in it.男孩子和女孩子對此都不感興趣。

基本用法二：通常應連接兩個相同性質(zhì)的句子成分，但有時后一成分可能省略與前一成分相同的詞。若連接兩個成分作主語，其謂語通常與靠近的主語保持一致。

Eg. Mary neither likes maths nor likes history.瑪麗既不喜歡數(shù)學也不喜歡歷史。

Eg. Neither Jim nor Jack was at home.吉姆和杰克都不在家。

特殊用法一：但在非正式文體中也可一律用復數(shù)。

特殊用法二：若連接兩個句子，要用倒裝。
