可可網友們，大家好。本期，我們將聽到兩小段對話。Liz的老師帶領她們來到了哈佛。仰視著這座知識殿堂，觸摸著校園里的樹木，一切似乎真的不再如此遙遠。這樣的時刻，一個新的夢想在心底堅定起來。
隨后，就是為這個夢想采取具體措施了。其中，最重要的一環就是解決學費的問題。Liz將希望放在了高額獎學金上。
David: It looks like what you thought it would?
Liz: Better. Unattainably better.
David: Liz, they're just people.
Liz: Not people like me. Why not people like me? What made them so different? Because of where they were born? I was working as hard as I could, so I didn't end up on food stamps or hut sling. What... what if I work even more? I was so close to the skin now I can touch it.
David: It would be a reach. It's not impossible.…
Liz: Is there any other scholarships?
Secretary: That's quite a few.
Liz: Write 1500 words on the importance of the free market and the free world and win $500. Yeah, I don't lead need 70 of those every year.
Secretary: There was something brand new from the NYT, maybe I didn't put it in yet.
Liz: $12000 every year for 4 years.
Secretary: What do you have to do?
Liz: Attach a brief essay describing what you believe to be the most significant acadamic achievement and how you have overcome any challenges or obstacles. Can I have a copy of this?
I want to stand beside people in sidewalk and not be so far beneath them. I wanna go to Harvard and become very developed, read all the best books. Then I found myself thinking what if I just go crazy? And use my every potential to do that?
I have to do it. I have no choice.
David帶領學生們來到了哈佛，這個世界上最著名的大學之一。看著人來人往，Liz的心也無法平靜。老師問她，大學有沒有她想象中的好。Liz回答說Better. Unattainably better.
比想象中的好。而且是，自己無法企及的好。Unattainably, 無法達到的，難以達到的。對此，老師的回答是，Liz, they’re just people. 他們也是人。
隨后，在Liz的內心獨白里，我們看到了這個倔強的小女孩兒的心意。我拼命努力，so I didn't end up on food stamps or hut sling. 這樣就不至于落得靠food stamps糧票，來混飯吃。睡覺就在一個hut sling, 一張吊床上。可這樣不夠。what if I work even more? 如果，我比現在更努力呢？那層我以為一直罩著我的殼就在手邊，似乎馬上就可以捅破了。
暗下決心的Liz開始著手找獎學金。可是，大部分都完全不足以讓她完成學業。好在一直都很親和的秘書想起來了，一個brand new scholarship，brand new常常放在一起使用，表示“全新的，嶄新的，最新的”。
紐約時報提供的這份高額獎學金要求申請者寫出自己認為最了不起的學術成果，并描述自己是怎么樣overcome any challenges or obstacles，戰勝挑戰和困難的。Obstacle, 障礙；妨礙。支撐Liz戰勝困難的原因之一就是來自自己想要改變現狀的強烈渴望，她希望自己能和其他人肩并肩的站在一起，而不是被踩在腳下。她要接受最好的教育，讀最好的書。只有這樣的愿望能刺激一個人use every potential to do a thing. 挖掘自己所有的潛能去做一件事。Potential, 潛力，能力。
電影《風雨哈佛路》是根據莉絲•默里(Liz Murray)的親身經歷拍攝的。Liz1980年出生于紐約市布朗克斯區，父母吸毒，15歲莉絲便無家可歸。在居無定所，流浪街頭的日子里，她用兩年時間完成了高中四年的學業，以全優的成績考入哈佛，并獲得“《紐約時報》一等獎學金”。莉絲還曾獲得“白宮計劃榜樣獎”，及美國脫口秀女王奧普拉•溫弗瑞特別頒發的“無所畏懼獎”，更受到美國前總統克林頓的接見。如今，莉絲在全球各地發表演說，以激勵人們跨越困境去追尋心中的夢想，賦予人生意義，實現自我價值。
