Will: You're chucking me?
Sean: Yeah, get the fuck outta here.
Will: No, no, no, time's not up yet.
Sean: Yeah, it is.
Will: I'm not leaving. No.
Sean: You're not gonna answer, you're wastin' my time.
Will: I thought we were friends.
Sean: Playtime's over, okay?
Will: Why are you kicking me out? You're lecturing me on life? Look at you, you fucking burnout. What winds your clock?
Sean: Workin' with you.
Will: Where's your soul mate? You wanna talk about soul mates? Where is she?
Sean: Dead.
Will: That's right. She's fuckin' dead. She fucking dies and you just cash in your chips and you walk away?
Sean: At least I played a hand.
Will: You played a hand and you lost. You lost a big fucking hand. Some people will lose a big hand like that and have the sack to ante up again.
Sean: Look at me. What do you wanna do? You and your bullshit. You got a bullshit answer for everybody. But I ask you a very simple question and you can't give me a straight answer, because you don't know. I'll see ya, Bopeep.
Will: Fuck you.
Sean: You're the shepherd. Shepherd. White little prick.
在對話之前Sean已經和Will針對工作的選擇問題有過一番針鋒相對。Will說如果可能，自己想當牧羊人。但用Sean的話說，如果你真的覺得做那些會給你帶來滿足的感覺，為什么要跑到一流的大學來當清潔工，為什么偷偷完成全世界只有幾個人能完成的數學題。但Will還是不肯面對事情本質、依舊逃避的態度激怒了Sean，于是生氣的趕Will走。這才有了大家聽到的這一段。
You’re chucking me? Chuck，丟棄；驅逐。No, no, no, time’s not up yet. Time’s up. 時間到了。Will不肯走，于是Sean說他不肯給自己真正的答案就是在浪費自己時間，繼續趕Will離開。
這下激怒了Will，他接連拋出了三個問題：Why are you kicking me out? 為什么趕我走。Kick sb out踢出；趕走。You’re lecturing me on life? 這句話雖然是陳述句結構，但是用了疑問語氣，相當于一個一般疑問句，你是在給我講人生大道理嗎？What winds your clock?Wind clock本意是指給鐘表上發條，這里用于指代讓人重新煥發生機。這一句里Will還把Sean稱為是fucking burnout。Burnout，原意指燒盡了的，這里被翻譯為“該死的糟老頭兒”。
接下來Will將Sean問他的問題 “Do you have a soul mate?” 拋回給了Sean。之前Will說他的朋友就是自己的靈魂伴侶，結果被否定掉，因為他算親人；又說尼采，莎士比亞等是，也被否定掉，因為他們不會對你的想法予以回應。不過，Sean的答案也好不到哪里。Dead。死去了。這給了Will進一步反擊的理由。因為死掉了，就cash in your chips and walk way? Cash in chips原指賭場里將籌碼換成錢。這里指鳴金收兵，不再嘗試。再比如：In the Depression, many small businesses had to cash in their chips. 在經濟大蕭條時期，很多小企業只好關門歇業。
但Sean反駁說at least I played a hand. Play a hand指打撲克時出牌，這里正好對應了上面cash in chips的用法，都是賭博用語，來表示自己至少曾經努力過，經歷過。
Will對此的反應是，你是出了牌，但你輸了，然后不敢再玩兒。可是很多人一樣輸了，確敢于have the sack to ante up again. Ante up, 又一個打牌時的用語，還是“下注”的意思。Sack本意是麻袋。整句話是說，即便輸了，還是有足夠的勇氣再做一次努力。
咄咄逼人的Will攻勢卻在最后Sean誠懇又平和的問句What do you wanna do? 后衰弱下來。看到Will無話可說，Sean再一次讓他離開，并稱他為Bopeep。Bopeep指“藏貓，躲貓貓游戲”，在這里指Will躲閃著不肯敞開心扉。
兩個同樣很天才的人過起招來是你來我往，不過，誠意也許就是可以定乾坤的那一神招。Sean對Will是發自內心的關懷，這樣的關懷每個人都能體會的到。也只有真正關心的人，才能將問題問到點子上，問到讓對方不得不認真思考。也許，對話最后的問題能問倒不只是Will一個人。如果您是Will，你能清楚地回答出來嗎？好了。幾部電影下來，我們已經可以總結出一個“好”老師必備的特質了，那就是，能夠幫助學生心靈成長的老師才是真正的好老師。下期，讓我們一同“邂逅浪漫”。
