how you feel, who you are because I read Oliver Twist?
Does that encapsulate you?
Personally, I don't give a shit about all that, because …You know what? I can't learn anything from you...
I can't read in some fuckin' book.
Unless you wanna talk about you, who you are.
And I'm fascinated. I'm in.

看著你，我看到得不是一個智慧的，自信的人，而是一個cocky, scared-shitless kid. 這幾個形容詞用的很有勁兒，cocky, 像大公雞那樣總是昂著頭翹著尾巴，形容“驕傲自大的”人。Scared, “嚇著了的；害怕的”；shitless“極度的”，scared-shitless “極度害怕的；嚇傻了的”。我看得卻是一個傲慢的，被嚇傻了的孩子。
盡管如此，不能否認的是Will是個天才，也許沒人能理解他的深度。但是，他presume to know everything about me because you saw a painting of mine. Presume，假定；認定。根據一幅畫就認定了我是什么樣子。這樣的話ripped my fucking life apart. Rip apart, “將……撕扯成兩半”。在整個和威爾的對話過程中，包括之后的幾次，兩個人都頻繁用到了fucking這個詞，它表示“該死的”，是個語氣很強烈的字眼。這些詞的使用也讓Sean教授在一直混跡于社會底層的Will眼里少了一些道貌岸然。
接下來，肖恩教授指出威爾是個孤兒，并反問你是不是認為我知道你有痛苦的童年都是因為我讀過《霧都孤兒》？書上的東西就能encapsulate you? Encapsulate，概括，壓縮。這也呼應了之前Sean教授責問Will的那些事實，雖然知道的很多，但都是紙上得來的，自己沒有切身的感受。
Sean教授對于可以從書上就推斷出的一切所抱的態度是I don’t give a shit about all that. Give a shit about “在意”。再比如：When I want to talk, I talk. I don’t give a shit what he said. 我想說話的時候我就說，我才不在乎他說了什么。
不在乎書上說了什么是因為這完全不能幫助我了解你任何信息，除非你自己愿意和我說，如果你愿意的話，I'm fascinated. I'm in. 我會被吸引。我會參與其中。I’m in. “我參加。算我一個。”
But you don't wanna do that, do you, sport? 但是，你不愿意那么做，是吧，兄弟？sport在俚語中可用作稱呼語，翻譯為“朋友；老兄”。在這一段的最后一句，Sean對Will的另一個稱呼是chief, 在舊式英語中，chief是很客氣的稱呼“先生”。
Sean說出，Will不愿意這樣做的原因是You're terrified of what you might say. Be terrified of…“害怕”。你會被你可能說出的話嚇到。
該說的都說了，誠意也擺在了那里，現在只能等待You move，你采取行動了。
這一次談話之后，Sean教授采取沉默戰術，一直等到Will主動開口說話，他們之間溝通的大幕也慢慢拉開，并最終成為朋友。其實，在與Will的接觸過程中，Sean教授的一些心結也在慢慢打開。可以說，他們是互相幫助。下期，我們在另一次二人之間的交鋒過程中就能體會到這一點。好了，我們下期再見。
