【文化背景】
1. Blair: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.
這段模仿的是電影“窈窕淑女”(My Fair Lady)". 奧黛麗赫本在劇中扮演Eliza Doolittle是一個賣花姑娘，出生貧寒，后來遇到了語言學家Professor Higgins，他從最簡單的發音開始，教她溫文爾雅的用語。這段The Rain in Spain" 是電影中的一段歌曲，因為Eliza總是把其中的”a”發成”eye”而不是長音”a”，所以教授就一直糾正她這句歌詞。具體可參見：http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rain_in_Spain
另外在Gossip Girl season 1里有一集模仿了奧黛麗赫本另外一部電影Breakfast at Tiffany，而s02e01里Blair, Marcus(那個英國貴族), Chuck和Serena的外婆一起喝下午茶，談到Blair最喜歡的電影是Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday和Funny Face.
2. Chuck: Yale has the Skull and Bones. My goal is to get inside their inner sanctum(圣地，密室).
Skull and Bones是由Yale里的精英學生組成的兄弟會，非常秘密，以至于沒人知道這個組織究竟從事什么活動，而這個組織的成員，也從不透露這個組織的活動。George W. Bush和他老爸都曾經是這個組織的成員，小布在自己的自傳里提到過”[In my] senior year I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society; so secret, I can't say anything more.”
此外，在2004年的美國總統大選中，民主黨和共和黨的候選人，都曾加入過這個兄弟會。所以說Skull and Bones是the secret elite society in US controls the world。而這也從另外一方面說明Yale是政治家的誕生地，所以在后面Chuck拍下那些學生尋歡作樂的照片，并要挾他們”You may be the future leaders of America. You're now under the control of Chuck Bass. I own you.”
3. Rufus: And if everything works out, maybe you'll apply to the professional children's school for next semester.
Jenny: Like Vera Wang.
Professional Children's School(PCS)是紐約的一所私立高中，專門培養有藝術才華的少年。除了后面提到的Vera Wang, Sex and the City的女主角Sarah Jessica Parker也是從這個學校畢業的。另外我google這個單詞的時候，發現釋小龍也在那里讀了四年高中。
PCS is a coeducational independent day school enrolling 200 students in grades 6-12. Founded over 90 years ago, PCS offers an academic, college preparatory education to students who are preparing for, or already pursuing, careers in the performing arts, entertainment or competitive sports, or who are drawn to a creative environment supportive of the arts.
Vera Wang: 著名的服裝設計師，不管是在紅毯上，還是明星婚禮上，都能看到她的衣服。連明星都以能穿上她的手工縫制婚紗而感到自豪（自然也是天價，上海香格里拉大酒店的The Perfect Wedding里可以定到）。Wang不能按中文發音讀“王”，而是應該根據英語發音規則，念成bad里那個”a”的發音。順便提另外一個品牌Anna Sui，雖然中文名是安娜蘇，但是Sui應該念"swi:"，就是sweet前面兩個音節。
4. Blair: Trying to come up with an answer for the Dean's parlor game(室內游戲)?
Serena: You manipulated (耍計謀)your way in here?
Blair: I get what I want, Serena, just like I'm gonna win tonight. What's your answer? Oh, no, let me guess. Lauren Conrad.
Serena: Try George Sand.
Lauren Conrad是因出演電視劇The Hills而出名，日常生活中穿衣品味也不錯，是很多八卦雜志拍攝的對象。這里Blair諷刺Serena知道的“名人”要么就是來自時尚圈，也沒就是來自娛樂圈，不可能知道什么文化名人。
George Sand是19世紀的女作家，George Sand是她的筆名，那個時代女性的地位是十分卑微的，更別提女人寫書這樣的事情了。所以她就用男人的名字出書，并且大獲成功。她不但起了個男人名字，還常常穿男裝，風流韻事也很多（在那個不知道“離婚”是什么的年代里，她的紅杏出墻還是很驚世駭俗的），總之，她就是一個很標新立異的新女性。不過我知道這個名字，不是因為她的書，而是因為她曾經和Chopin（肖邦）有過長達10年的同居生活，肖邦和她在一起的那段時光里，創作了很多著名的曲子。
