149.不好欺負(fù)
Little boys have a way of making free with other children.
小男孩都知道怎樣隨意欺負(fù)別的孩子。
They make demands on smaller children to pay for their lunches, buy them candy, or simply give them their money.
他們要求小一些的孩子替他們付午飯錢，給他們買糖果，或者干脆給他們錢。
When this happens the smaller children have to depend on their own friends to make ends meet--it's better than being beat up!
發(fā)生這種事時(shí)，小一點(diǎn)兒的孩子得靠他們自己的朋友勉強(qiáng)挺過(guò)去一這比被毒打一頓好多了！
Little Joey didn't go along with the bullies.
小喬伊卻不買這些恃強(qiáng)欺弱者的賬。
He even made light of them and their attempts at extortion!
他甚至輕視他們，對(duì)他們的敲詐要求不予理睬！
He made as if he was powerful--and this bothered the bullies.
他仿佛一副神圣不可侵犯的樣子一而這使那伙流氓很惱火。
They couldn't make head or tail of Little Joey.
他們無(wú)法了解小喬伊。
It didn't matter, however, they just made arrangements to beat him up after school one day!
可這沒(méi)關(guān)系，他們做好了準(zhǔn)備，哪天放學(xué)后揍他一頓！
When they all met, Little Joe astounded them again by making fun of the bullies!
當(dāng)他們狹路相逢時(shí)，小喬伊再次讓他們吃了一驚：他居然敢取笑那伙流氓！
Was this kid living in a make believe world that he didn't think there would be consequences?
這小孩是生活在一個(gè)幻想世界，不認(rèn)為這么做會(huì)有任何后果嗎？
Well, they didn't like being made little of so they stepped in to hit him as hard as they could!
可是， 他們不喜歡被人小瞧，于是走進(jìn)去準(zhǔn)備給他一頓狠揍！
They should have made certain that Little Joey was a weakling.
他們應(yīng)該弄清楚小喬伊不是那么好欺負(fù)的！
The bullies didn't make it On the contrary, they were all lying on the ground bleeding.
流氓們沒(méi)有得手。相反，他們卻一個(gè)個(gè)躺在地上渾身流血。
Little Joey had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do!
原來(lái)小喬伊是跆拳道黑腰帶級(jí)髙手！
After that all of the little children made friends with Little Joey
從那以后，所有小孩都對(duì)小喬伊變得友好起來(lái)，
and he made good on his promise to keep the bullies from picking on them again.
而他則履行諾言不讓那些流氓再欺負(fù)他們。
Soon the bullies had to make do with bullying each other for lunch money, candy and other things...
不久那些流氓們只好將就著互相斗狠，互相給午飯錢、買糖果和其他東西……
