63.看照片
When Mr. Keller first began to develop film for other people it had been exciting.
凱勒先生剛開始為別人沖洗膠卷時(shí)還覺得很興奮。
The photos were always so interesting.
因?yàn)樗傆X得那些照片很有意思。
Over the years, however, the excitement had slowly died away.
但是幾年下來那種興奮勁兒逐漸消失了。
Now he felt devoid of any emotion when he looked at other people's photos.
現(xiàn)在看著別人的照片他感到毫無激情。
Most people's photos, after all, differed from each other very little.
大多數(shù)人的照片畢竟差別不大。
There were pictures of kids, of graduations, of people devoted to helping others, of fancy dining cars, of celebrations in large dining rooms, etc.
一般都是兒童照、畢業(yè)照、全心全意為他人服務(wù)照、高級(jí)餐車照、大餐廳里的慶祝活動(dòng)照等等。
But nothing new ever came along.
不會(huì)有新的內(nèi)容。
Sure there were sometimes pictures of naked people, or of the aftermath of a night dining out, but nothing where Mr. Keller ever had to dial the number for the police.
當(dāng)然，有時(shí)也會(huì)有些裸體照，或者晚上出去吃飯的效果照，但是還沒有凱勒先生必須給警察撥電話號(hào)瑪?shù)恼掌?/div>
But then came the photo of a man pulling a knife across a woman's neck!
可是后來出現(xiàn)了一張一個(gè)男人拿刀砍一個(gè)女人脖子的照片。
That surely was detrimental to her health! Mr. Keller thought.
那一刀肯定會(huì)傷害她的身體！凱勒先生想。
Not fearing a dice with death, Mr. Keller hurriedly dug up the number for the police to call for an emergency!
他不怕冒生命危險(xiǎn)，趕快找出警察局的號(hào)碼請(qǐng)他們急救！
He was determined to help!
他下定決心要幫這個(gè)忙！
The police found a murdered woman.
警察發(fā)現(xiàn)了一名被害的婦女。
Then they captured the man who did it!
接著他們抓到了兇手！
Mr. Keller was a hero!
凱勒先生成了英雄！
When all the excitement had died out, the police met again with Mr. Keller.
當(dāng)所有的興奮過去之后，警察又找到了凱勒先生。
They had appreciated his help and how Mr. Keller had not been deterred from calling them.
他們對(duì)他的幫助表示了感謝，并對(duì)他不畏艱險(xiǎn)給他們打電話表示了贊賞。
Then their conversation turned and developed into a job offer for Mr. Keller to help the police analyze murder photos!
接著他們轉(zhuǎn)移話題，談話逐漸發(fā)展成了工作邀請(qǐng)，他們請(qǐng)求凱勒先生幫助他們分析兇殺照片！
Mr. Keller accepted.
凱勒先生接受了邀請(qǐng)。
He framed the photo in his new office as a benchmark in his life!
他把那張照片裝上鏡框，作為一生的基準(zhǔn)掛在了新辦公室里！
It was the device for Mr. Keller to have a new career!
凱勒先生就是用這種方法開始了他的新生涯！
