I know that you plan to travel in China in summer and I strongly recommend Shanghai. I was there for a week and the city is amazing. You will be overwhelmed by the numerous tourist attractions there and you ought to go to the Bund. I believe that you will be interested to see the bold contrast between the Bund and the brand new Pudong district. Since the city is so big, a bit of homework beforehand will not go amiss. Meanwhile, better be prepared about the crowdedness; after all, it is the travelling season. And a big enough suitcase in case you are on a spending spree.
