It was the devious-cruising Rachel, that in her retracing search after her missing children, only found another orphan.
原來在那個教徒失蹤后，當(dāng)時遺下一個頭槳手的空缺，我這個人就被命運(yùn)之神派去頂亞哈那個頭槳手的缺。在最后一天，有三個人打那只顛顛簸簸的小艇里給摔到海里去，我卻給摔落在艇尾。因此，我就漂泛在隨后的現(xiàn)場的外圍，而且把它看得一清二楚，等到那艘已告下沉而多少還有點(diǎn)浮力的大船漂到我身邊時，我就給慢慢地曳向那個接近尾聲的大渦流里去。當(dāng)我到了那大渦流里時，它已是逐漸變成個奶酪似的水塘了。于是，我象個易克賽溫（易克賽溫——希臘神話，易克賽溫受神罰，被綁在永久旋轉(zhuǎn)的地獄車輪上。）再世般旋來旋去，越旋越靠近那個慢慢地旋著的圈子軸心的黑鈕扣似的泡泡中。后來我旋到了那個生命攸關(guān)的中心時，那顆黑泡泡往上炸了開來。這時，那只棺材的救生圈象是裝有巧妙的彈簧似的彈了開來，加上它本來就有極大的浮力，所以它猛地一冒，就打水里直射了出來，落進(jìn)海里，浮在我的旁邊。我靠了那只棺材的浮動，差不多整整一天一夜地浮泛在那個輕聲細(xì)氣。在唱挽歌似的大洋上。那些并不傷人的鯊魚，象是嘴上掛了大鎖似的在我旁邊閃來閃去；駭人的海鷹也掩著嘴喙飛來飛去。第二天，有一艘船駛了過來，越駛越近，終于把我救起。它原來就是那艘到處亂闖的“拉吉號”，想不到在它折回去找尋它那兩個失蹤的孩子時，只找到了另一個孤兒。
