Trains suspended, flights grounded

Trains and flights have been suspended along China's southeast coast, as Super Typhoon Chan-hom bears down. CCTV reporter of ICS reports on how the Typhoon is causing travel disruption, before it's even arrived.

All trains leaving Shanghai's Hongqiao Railway Station for Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen and Guangzhou were suspended Friday and Saturday, due to bad weather along the route in coastal cities. In total, 49 trains were affected, passengers had to find another way to leave the city.

"I can't go back due to the suspension. I need to check if there're air tickets left. I have to leave today, as it's not possible to leave tomorrow."

"As I'm on a business trip, I have to go there today. Then I need to ask my colleagues to help me check if there's any return tickets tomorrow. "

48 more trains will be canceled Saturday. Railway authorities suggest any passengers who want a refund should check online instead of going to the train station in person.

Han Jun from Hongqiao Railway Station said:"Passengers who booked tickets online can log onto our website 12306.com to get a refund. If they already got the ticket, they can go to the three railway stations to get a refund within five days. "

At Hongqiao airport, planes heading to southeastern destinations including Wenzhou and Taiwan were canceled today.

"All passengers can get a refund or reschedule for free. Besides calling our hotline, passengers can also reschedule through our official app, or the self check-in counter at the airport. It's very convenient," said Wang Zhihao, Duty Manager of China Eastern.

China Southern says it will cancel all flights into and out of Shanghai before 3 pm tomorrow. Airport authorities suggest passengers check their flight information before leaving home.
