South China bears the brunt of torrential rain
華南遭遇強降雨襲擊
Moderate rain has hit parts of north China with snow and sleet in some high-altitude areas. But parts of south China including Sichuan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong provinces have received heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms.

Torrential rain storms lasted for hours, flooding streets and causing damage. Electricity was temporarily cut in some areas in the south. Over 900 people in Jiangxi were evacuated after their houses were flooded. Nearly three hundred thousand residents in Guizhou have been affected by the weather. Guangdong meteorological authority has issued a red alert for the torrential rain.

The rain has caused traffic jams and even road collapse; this car getting stuck in a gaping hole. No casualties have so far been reported due to the weather.
