英語口語中有許多習慣說法，有其約定俗成的用法和意思，和漢語的習慣用法不一樣，有時很難從字面上看出來或推斷出來。Don't go there就是一個例子。筆者在最新版的《朗文當代英語詞典》(Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English)查到，go詞條下有這樣一條釋義：don't go there, spoken（口語）&informal（非正式）:used to say that you do not want to think or talk about something（不愿意想或提起某件事）。例：
