《雙城記》指的就是巴黎和倫敦，一座以浪漫揚(yáng)名而且爆發(fā)了一場(chǎng)大革命的城市，另一座以紳士為風(fēng)度而霧氣重重的城市。狄更斯經(jīng)過(guò)仔細(xì)的觀察，認(rèn)識(shí)到霧氣彌漫的倫敦蘊(yùn)藏著陰霾深厚的社會(huì)危機(jī)，跟18世紀(jì)末大革命前的法國(guó)非常相似，他試圖從人道主義的立場(chǎng)出發(fā)，呼吁社會(huì)，發(fā)出警告，所以《雙城記》是一部殷鑒式作品。
