alone，lone，lonely和lonesome的比較：

alone是表語(yǔ)形容詞，因此能說(shuō)The man is alone，不能說(shuō)an alone man。也不能說(shuō)very alone，只能說(shuō)much alone或very much alone，且后者比前者普遍。

lone是定語(yǔ)形容詞，因此能說(shuō)a lone man,不能說(shuō)The man is lone。

alone指“獨(dú)自的”，lonely指“寂寞的”，一個(gè)人也許alone但并不lonely（雖自己一人，但不寂寞），或是雖不alone而感覺(jué)lonely（雖不是自己一個(gè)人，卻還是寂寞）。有時(shí)lonely還指“不大有人到的”，如a lonely house。
