第一、固定短語：
1. in bed：臥床，睡覺
典型例句：He expects his wife to bring him breakfast in bed at weekends.

2. set off：出發，啟程
典型例句：The children set off for school.

3. on roads to：在去......的道路上
注解：on roads to看起來結構似乎和on one’s way to，但是意思完全不同，on roads to是指“道路”，on one’s way to是指“行程，旅程”。
在roads前面可以加形容詞，表示道路如何，文中是on bad roads to意思是指“去......的糟糕的道路上”。
典型例句：He urged me to drive carefully on the icy roads.
他督促我在結冰的路上開車要謹慎。
I'll be able to overtake anyone on the roads, quite safely.

注解：with在這里的意思“拿著，帶著”，表示伴隨狀況。
4. a distance of twenty or thirty miles：20或者30英里的路程
