Learn A Word catch-22
今天我們要學(xué)的詞是catch-22. Catch is spelled c-a-t-c-h. Catch-22 就是"catch"這個(gè)詞后面加上阿拉伯?dāng)?shù)字22，意思是無(wú)法解決的難題，左右為難的局面。剛畢業(yè)的大學(xué)生不好找工作，The college graduates find themselves in a typical catch-22 situation where employers won't hire them because they lack experience, but without that first job they can't get experience. 大學(xué)畢業(yè)生面臨的就是這種無(wú)法擺脫的困境: 雇主都不愿意雇缺乏工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)的新人，可是找不到第一份工作，經(jīng)驗(yàn)就無(wú)從談起。在城市發(fā)展中，常會(huì)出現(xiàn)這樣的現(xiàn)象: Retailers are hesitant to invest in areas where there aren't sufficient consumers, but many people also don't want to move to areas where retailers are not easily accessible. That's the catch-22 of urban development. 零售商不愿意去消費(fèi)者少的地方投資，大家又不愿意搬到買東西不方便的地方去。這就是城市發(fā)展的一個(gè)兩難困境。好的，今天我們學(xué)習(xí)的詞是catch-22, catch-22, catch-22.
A: 我真有同感！Fresh college graduates often face a common catch-22. 公司都要有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的人，可是沒(méi)有第一份工作，經(jīng)驗(yàn)又從哪里來(lái)呢？
