不同的網，不同的詞

大家對“網絡”的英語詞一定不陌生：

The Internet

The web

關鍵是不要忘記定冠詞”the”.

Who can live without the internet? 誰離得開網絡？

說到Wifi，泛指時則不需要用the:

Are you connected to wifi? 你連上無線網絡了嗎？

如果是描述特定的一個wifi網絡，以及與之相關的信息，就要用the:

What’s the wifi password here? 這里的無線網絡密碼是什么？

Data: 流量

Data plan: 流量套餐

Data plans have become significantly cheaper in the past few years: 過去幾年里，流量套餐便宜了很多

Roaming: 漫游

Don’t forget to activate roaming before you travel: 出行前別忘了開通漫游

斷網

英語里有不少常用的說法來描述“斷網”：

Down: 網段了，常形容持續時間久的網絡故障

My internet was down for the whole day: 我網斷了一天

The entire wifi service is down. We don’t know when it’ll be fixed: 整個wifi服務都中斷了，不知道什么時候才能修好

Cut out: 中斷了，多用于描述短暫、間歇性的問題

Sorry, I didn’t hear what you said. My internet cut out: 對不起，我沒聽見你說的。我的網剛斷了

Could you repeat what you just said? You were cutting out for a minute: 你介意再重復一下嗎？你的網絡剛才斷了

Dropped: 網絡中斷，通常也是短暫的問題

My internet just dropped. It seems to be working now: 我的網剛才斷了。現在感覺正常了

Let’s wait for a second. Grace’s connection just dropped: 我們先等一下吧。Grace斷網了

Get disconnected: 連接中斷，通常也比較短暫。而且常是被動式，除非是你自己有意切斷網絡

Are you still online? I just got disconnected: 你還在線嗎？我剛才斷網了

Our video conference just got disconnected. Let’s bring everyone in again: 我們的視頻會議剛斷線了，我們再加大家一下

Lost: 沒網了

I was in the middle of an interview when I lost my internet connection. What a nightmare! 我面試到一半，突然沒網了。太倒霉了！

I lost my wifi connection a few times this week. I should call customer support: 我這周斷網好幾次了，應該找客服

Having trouble: 連不上網。原因可以多種多樣，可能是網的問題、也有可能是設備的問題、或者你不知道怎么連

I’m having so much trouble with my wifi. It’s so frustrating: 我網絡一直有問題。煩死人了！

I’m having trouble getting online. What about you? 我連不上網，你呢？

網卡

同樣也有幾個不同的常用表達：

1） Choppy: 源自動詞chop(切），斷斷續續的，像被切成一截一截的

Sorry, I missed what you said. The connection is really choppy: 不好意思，我沒聽見你說的。網絡連接斷斷續續的

The wifi is so choppy. Can’t stream anything: wifi斷斷續續，在線什么都看不了

2）Laggy: 滯后的、卡頓的；

The live stream was very laggy. I could barely hear what the host was saying: 直播非常卡, 我都聽不清主播在說什么

The video is super laggy. Let’s switch to audio instead: 視頻太卡了，我們轉成語音吧

3）Lag: laggy的名詞，也是滯后、卡頓的意思　

Do you mind slowing down? There is a lag: 你能說慢一點嗎？有些滯后

4）In and out: 時有時無

The wifi keeps going in and out. It’s frustrating: wifi一會兒有一會兒沒有，太煩了

5）Spotty: 星星點點，不流暢

I’ll be hiking in the mountains. The cell coverage might be very spotty: 我要去爬山，手機信號覆蓋大概不太好
