Diarmuid: I just went to the bank and I couldn't take any money out. I'm really skint. S.K.I.N.T. 我剛剛跑到銀行，但是我去不了錢。我身無(wú)分文了。

Feifei: 如果你銀行賬戶的余額是零的話，那么難道不應(yīng)該說(shuō) you're poor 你很窮嗎？

Diarmuid: Well, skint is another word for poor. If someone is skint, they have very little money. 嗯，這個(gè)單詞跟poor差不多，他們幾乎沒有錢。

Feifei: 那能不能用 skint 這個(gè)詞來(lái)代替 poor 呢？

Diarmuid: Skint and poor are both adjectives but skint is usually used when someone has run out of money temporarily. 這兩個(gè)詞都是形容詞，但是skint通常是在人們暫時(shí)沒錢的時(shí)候用。

Feifei: Skint 常指由于最近手頭比較緊，錢花完了，但是很快就又會(huì)有錢了，所以 skint 指得這個(gè)窮法是短時(shí)期的，暫時(shí)的。

Diarmuid: Yes, they will have some money again quite soon. 是的，他們很快就會(huì)又有錢了。

Examples

B: I can't, I'm really skint this month. 不行，這個(gè)月我身無(wú)分文了。

A: My girlfriend likes to shop a lot. 我女友很喜歡購(gòu)物。

B: Oh really, does she have expensive tastes? 哦，真的嗎，她喜歡貴的東西嗎？

A: Yes. I'm usually skint after we go out shopping together. 是的，經(jīng)常是我們一起購(gòu)物后我就身無(wú)分文了。

Feifei: Ok, I think I understand. Skint 是一個(gè)俚語(yǔ)單詞，表示一個(gè)人短時(shí)期，暫時(shí)沒有錢。
