二、口譯技巧

1.詞性轉化
副詞轉化為名詞
What we do with information technology and how we use it, will determine our success industrially and as a society for years to come.
我們對信息技術的處理和利用將決定未來歲月中工業及著呢改革社會的成敗。

副詞轉化為動詞
Using second generation Internet technology, they recreated the sense of touch over a 3,000 mile distance ­­-- ⋯
他們使用第二代因特網技術跨越3,000英里再現了觸摸的感覺。

形容詞轉化為動詞
That is why we aim to have all government services on-line by 2005。
我們的目標是在2005年之前實現政務網絡化

Its potential is still hugely under-exploited --
它的潛力還有待大力開發⋯⋯ （也可理解為運用了反譯技巧）

this Government is absolutely determined to meet the challenge and set out nation on the course to succeed.
本屆政府將堅決地迎接挑戰，使我國邁上成功之路。（原文中“succeed”的翻譯采用了動詞轉化為名詞的技巧）

2.拆分
The fundamental challenge is to create a knowledge-driven economy / that serves our long-term goals of first-class public services and economic prosperity for all.
最根本的挑戰是建立一種知識型經濟， / 以實現我們建立一流服務體系和實現共同富裕的長遠目標。（同時使用了增詞技巧）

5.引申
A conversation in which we are breaking new ground in scientific and technological advance, in which our schools and universities feel comfortable with its potential; ⋯
在這種對話中，我們可以在科學技術的發展中不斷創新，大中學校則可得益其潛在效益，⋯⋯

6.增詞
We need to use ideas and intelligence in new ways that create higher value products and better quality services.
我們需要以新的方式運用觀念和智能，以生產出具有更高附加值的產品，提供更好的服務。（增加動詞）

And we will be investing in ICT infrastructure throughout the criminal justice system.
