四、口譯技巧
1.名詞轉化為動詞
Our emphasis is the alleviation of individual hardship.
我們的重點放在減輕個人困難上。
Our position is to encourage effort and productivity.
我們的立場是鼓勵人們勤勞工作，提高生產力。
形容詞轉化為動詞
but because of the nature of the economy, this will only have a modest effect.
但是因為經濟的性質，這種辦法收效甚微。
2.反譯
but we recognize that whatever we do, we cannot stop unemployment from going up and we cannot stop some companies from capsizing.
但我們意識到，無論做什么，失業率仍將上升，一些公司仍將倒閉。
There is a fundamental issue of principle here, which we will not deviate from.
這里有一條根本性的原則，我們會一直遵循下去。
we will make sure that no one will be homeless or without healthcare, that children will be educated, that people have enough to eat.

3.主動、被動相互轉化

4.省略
But you must be prepared to work and you must be prepared to learn new skills and adapt to a different situation.
但人們必須去工作，去學習新的技術來適應不同的環境。
5.增詞

We are completely realistic that the only way to sustain Singapore’s economy is to have an open-door policy to talent, like Venice or Florence or Milan during the Renaissance.
