slacken 減緩、減弱
slacken speed 放慢速度
slacken interest 降低興趣

The depression slackened off and prosperity was returning.
蕭條漸趨緩和，繁榮正在復歸。

二、口譯技巧

1.拆分

版權保護什么時候才開始生效呢？什么時候才過期呢？
When does Copyright Protection begin and when does it expire?

2.合并

《伯爾尼公約》確定了一個最短的保護期限，即作者有生之年和身后50年。
The Berne Convention establishes a minimum period that lasts the life of the author and fifty years after his (or her) death.

3.動詞轉化為名詞

處于其他任何目的的使用享有版權的作品或其部分均不可視為“合理使用”，所以務必小心！
Use of copyrighted works, or portions thereof, for any other purpose is not deemed fair use, so be careful!
