Proper：當否？
在葬禮（funeral）上神情嚴肅（look grave)，是proper behavior（合適的行為）；在婚禮（wedding ceremony）上哭泣(sob, cry, weep)，如同發言中跟領導作對（contradict a leader），都是improper behavior(不得體的行為)。
可能不那么容易看出，appropriate是穿馬甲版的proper：把兩個詞中間對齊看一下會有發現相似之處（similarity）。
在婚禮上講笑話（tell jokes）是appropriate behavior，在葬禮上搞笑（be funny）是inappropriate behavior。
還有一個長得像的可能純屬巧合(by sheer accident): property，主要意思之一為“財產”。
比如中國人總是說（tend to say)公有財產神圣不可侵犯，我們可能有此一問：
Is it proper only to say that public property is sacred? Then how about private property?
光說公有財產神圣不可侵犯，這合適嗎？那私有財產又當如何？
在改革開放幾十年后的今天（decades after the beginning of the reform and opening policy)，這一問不但是合理的（rational, reasonable)，而且是相當急迫的（rather urgent)。
Technology：科技
時下最時髦（fashionable)的行當(trade, profession, occupation, job)之一，是IT業，information technology(信息技術）之謂也。
鄧小平爺爺曾教導我們：Science and Technology is the first productivity.(科學技術是第一生產力)。
于是（in response, accordingly, consequently, as a result, therefore），全國各地（all over the country），一批又一批High-tech enterprises（高科技企業）涌現出來（mushroom, spring up, come out）。
可事實上（in fact, indeed, actually），從技術上講(technically)，這些所謂的high-tech enterprises技術含量可疑(suspicious)，真的當然也存在(exist)，但為數不少是強裝時髦(pretend to be fashionable)。
