　　在這一課中，我們將繼續聽Michael如何描述公司第三個經營理念：cooperation(合作)，同時學習在演講中常用到的一些詞組。 本課的重點詞匯

　　上一次我們聽到了Michael是如何介紹公司經營理念中的"信任和誠實"，今天我們再來聽聽他如何描述公司第三個經營理念：cooperation(合作)的：

　　Also, cooperation is essential in business. In order to compete equaly with other companies, cooperation in

　　our company is very important. In this respect, we make a special effort to establish good communication and cooperative relationships between management and labor.

　　聽完上面Michael的演講，可以看出他認為"在經營中，合作是基本的條件"。 essential這個詞表達了"基本的、必須的、不可缺"的意思;它的重要性用一個句子就可以體現出來，那就是：

　　Food is essential to life.(食物是生命中必不可少的。)

　　另外，如果你在招聘廣告上看到：

　　Wanted, a good secretary: experience essential.

　　意思就是"征求優秀秘書一名，必須有經驗"。

　　下面我們再來看一下respect這個詞，Michael所說的respect可不是"尊敬"的意思， 而是代表 "方面、點"，in this respect就表示"在這方面"，如果你想表達公司在某一方面是落后于別人的，就可以說： 　　　　　 We are lagging(落后) behind in this respect. 當然你還可以使用下面的詞組：

　　in all respects / in every respect(在所有方面);

　　in some respects(在某些方面);

　　另外在Michael 說的這段話中，又見到了我們所熟悉的make an effort這個表示"努力做……" 的短語。現在將這個短語豐富一下，你可以說：

　　make a special effort　(做特殊的努力)，也可以說：

　　make no effort　(不做任何努力);

　　如果在工作中需要你去學習某種技能，你就要 make a great effort to acquire the skill.

　　雖然Michael提到了合作的重要，但是在公司中，合作與競爭應該是密不可分的，良好的競爭機制能夠讓公司充滿活力，所以Michael說完了"合作"，又補充一句：

　　We also try to let our workers compete with one another, while maintaining a cooperative 　　relationship among them.

　　Michael的意思是 "在讓員工保持合作關系的同時，也促使他們互相競爭"， 這里的maintaining實際上是動詞maintain(保留、保持)的分詞形式，在這里做狀語，表示和主語的動作是同時發生的，比如說：

　　Please fill in this form, giving your name, address, etc.

　　意思是"請把這份表填一下，寫下你的姓名、住址等" 最后我們再來聽一下Michael

　　對公司這三種經營理念的總結：

　　Based on this philosophy, we hope to contribute to our customers, employees and the 　　 　society.

　　首先他說到Based on this philosophy，意思就是"基于這種經營理念"，在表示"以……為基礎，基于……"的時候，be based on 這個句式是非常有用的。

　　比如說在財務上， Direct taxation is　usually based on income.

　　意思就是"直接稅通常以收入為基礎";

　　這里我們要重點講解的一個詞就是contribute, 這個詞可以表示"捐贈(錢物)，貢獻、 提供"等意思，做不及物動詞的時候，后面要加上介詞to. 我們來看下面這句良言，

　　Honesty and hard work contribute to a success. (誠實加苦干有助于成功。)

　　在Michael 致辭中，他說：

　　to contribute to our customers, employees and the society

　　意思就是"貢獻給我們的顧客、員工以及整個社會"。他把公司這三種理念的運用到整個社會上，讓客人們確實感受到了公司的真心誠意。
