The thought of a house of a certain construction, if it were impressed upon Formless Substance,
當某一獨特的建筑給無形的物質留下深刻的印象之后，譬如說房子，
might not cause the instant formation, of the house;
無形的物質并不能馬上便將這一思想轉變為實體，
but it would cause the turning of creative energies already working in trade and commerce into such channels
但它卻能將已經投入到商業和貿易中的創造性能量轉移到建筑這一模型上來，
as to result in the speedy building of the house.
而這一行動的最終結果就是房子的快速落成。
And if there were no existing channels through which the creative energy could work,
如果這時世上還沒有現成的模型可供創造性能量工作，
then the house would be formed directly from primal substance, without waiting for the slow processes of the organic and inorganic world.
無形的物質便會直接利用源物質直接建造房屋，而不再等待各種有機物和無機物形成，因為那將會是--個十分緩慢的過程。
No thought of form can be impressed upon Orig inal Substance without causing the creation of the, form.
任何關于形體的想法，一旦出現，母體就決不會讓它無功而返，其結果必然是一種新形體的誕生。
Man is a thinking center, and can originate thought.
人類就是各種思想的中心，同時他也能夠生成各種想法和觀念。
All the forms that man fashions with his hands must first exist in his thought;
凡是經人類之手創造出來的物體，最初都是人類腦海里的一個想法或概念。
he cannot shape a thing until he has thought that thing.
在這一想法或概念尚未成形之前，誰都無法將其變為現實當中的實體物質。
And so far man has confined his efforts wholly to the work of his hands;
不過，遺憾的是，至今為止，人類的這一創造性活動僅限于手工勞動。
he has applied manual labor to the world of forms, seeking to change or modify those already existing.
一直以來，人們都是掌雙手去創造新事物，以及對已有事物進行改變或修飾，
He has never thought of trying to cause the creation of new forms by impress ing his thoughts upon Formless Substance.
卻從未思考過如何通過將思想作用于無形的物質來創造新生事物。
When man has a thought- form, he takes material from the forms of nature, and makes an image of the form which is in his mind.
當人類掌握了這一思想力量之后，他就可以直接從自然取材，然后將其加工成自己腦海中的形式。
He has, so far, made little or no effort to co-operate with Formless Intelligence; to work "with the Father."
至今為止，人類還幾乎從未與這一無形的智慧結盟，與創造自己的“祖輩”一起工作過。
He has not dreamed that he can "do what he seeth the Father doing."
我們做夢都沒想過還能“做祖輩塞斯做過的事情”。
Man reshapes and modifies existing forms by manual labor,
相當長的一段時間里，人類一直都是依靠雙手的力量去改造和裝飾現有事物，
he has given no attention to the question whether he may not produce things from Formless Substance by communicating his thoughts to it.
卻從未考慮過自己能否通過與自我思想的交流，直接利用無形的物質去完成這一切。
We propose to prove that he may do so; to prove that any man or woman may do so, and to show how.
在此，我強烈建議我們每個人都認真思考這一問題，并努力將之付諸實踐。
As our first step, we must lay down three fundamental propositions.

First, we assert that there is one original formless stuff, or substance, from which all things are made.

All the seemingly many elements are but different presentations of one element;
世間所有表面上看來各不相同的元素，實際上不過是同一種元索的不同表現形式而已，
all the many forms found in organic and inorganic nature are but different shapes, made from the same stuff.
自然界當中所有已經發現的無機物和有機物，事實上都是由同一種物質構成的，只不過表現形式不同而已，
And this stuff is thinking stuff; a thought held in it produces the form of the thought.
而這一物質就是我們前文所說的會思考的源物質。
Thought, in thinking substance, produces shapes.
該物質的思想首先產生了這一思想的承載形體。
Man is a thinking center, capable of original thought; if man can communicate his thought to original thinking substance,
人是思考的中心，有獨創性的思想能力，如果人類能夠讓自己的思想與這一會思考的源物質進行交流，
he can cause the creation, or formation, of the thing he thinks about.
那他就能將所有他的想法都創造成，或者說制造成，現實世界當中的實體事物。
To summarize this - There is a thinking stuyff from which all things are made, and which,
總結一下，即:有一種會思考的源物質，世上所有事物的形成皆源自于它。
in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.
最初，這一物質本是宇宙的填充物，宇宙的每一絲空隙都由它占據著。
A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.
首先，在這種物質當中出現了思想：接著，思想再按照其想像的模式制造出世間萬物。
Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.
人類的思想可造萬物，而且通過讓自己的思想作用于無形的源物質，人類就能夠將腦海中的想像變為現實。
It may be asked if I can prove these statements; and without going into details,
寫到這兒，我知道，有人可能會問：你是否能夠證明自己的這些觀點呢？
I answer that I can do so, both by logic and experience.
我的回答是，我完全可以從邏輯和經驗兩個方面同時進行簡要的證明。
Reasoning back from the phenomena of form and thought, I come to one original thinking substance;
就讓我們從物質與思想的現象開始論證吧。有一種能夠思考的源物質，
and reasoning forward from this thinking substance, I come to man's power to cause the formation of the thing he thinks about.
從這一點，我便可以推斷出人類具有將自己的思想轉變為現實的能力。
And by experiment, I find the reasoning true; and this is my strongest proof.
而通過試驗，我發現這一推理是正確的。這也成為支撐我觀點的最強有力的證據。
