It is evident that they do not get rich because they possess talents and abilities that other men have not,
很明顯，他們不富有，因為他們擁有別人沒有的天賦和能力，
but because they happen to do things in a Certain Way.
而是他們全都按照某一特殊的方式行為處事。
Getting rich is not the result of saving, or "thrift"; many very penurious people are poor, while free spenders often get rich.
致富不是儲蓄或“節儉”就能實現；一窮二白的守財奴大有人在，而一擲千金的富翁也屢見不鮮。
Nor is getting rich due to doing things which others fail to do;
致富也不是因為做了別人無法做成的事;
for two men in the same business often do almost exactly the same things,
正如同行之間，從事的工作和所處的環境幾乎完全相同，
and one gets rich while the other remains poor or becomes bankrupt.
一個人致富，另一個潦倒，或者以破產告終。
From all these things, we must come to the conclusion that getting rich is the result of doing things in a Certain Way.
通過以上這一系列事實，我們不難得出這樣-一個結論:正確的做事方式才是獲取財富最強有力的根本保障。
If getting rich is the result of doing things in a Certain Way,
如果致富是以某種方式做事的結果，
then any man or woman who can do things in that way can become rich, and the whole matter is brought within the domain of exact science.
那么，任何能用這種方式做事的人都能成為富翁，整個事情就被納入了精確科學的范疇。
The question arises here, whether this Certain Way may not be so difficult that only a few may follow it.
這里出現了一個問題，這條確定的道路是否很難掌握，以至于只有少數人會遵循它。
This cannot be true, as we have seen, so far as natural ability is concerned.
從人類自身的能力這一角度來說，答案當然是否定的。
Talented people get rich, and blockheads get rich; intellectually brilliant people get rich, and very stupid people get rich;
有才華的人致富，愚人也能致富；聰明的人會致富，非常愚蠢的人也能發財;
physically strong people get rich, and weak and sickly people get rich.
現今的富人當中也不乏頭腦愚鈍、重病纏身的弱者
Some degree of ability to think and understand is, of course, essential; but in so far as natural ability is concerned,
在通向財富的道路上，能力高低的確會影響最終的成敗，然而，若僅從個人素質的角度來衡量，
any man or woman who has sense enough to read and understand these words can certainly get rich.
任何男人或女人，只要有足夠的理智讀懂這些話，就一定能致富。
Also, we have seen that it is not a matter of environment.
雖然我們說財富的取得與環境無關。
Location counts for something; one would not go to the heart of the Sahara and expect to do successful bus iness.
有時候，環境因素也會影響致富的。誰都不會跑到荒無人煙的撒哈拉大沙漠去尋找致富的良機。
Getting rich involves the necessity of dealing with men, and of being where there are people to deal with;
有時候，除了環境因素當中的天時和地利之外，人和也是很重要的。
and if these people are inclined to deal in the way you want to deal, so much the better.
當你和你的處事方式獲得了大家的認可之后，財源滾滾就不再是空中樓閣了。
But that is about as far as environment goes.
環境因素的影響就止步于這里了。
If anybody else in your town can get rich, so can you; and if anybody else in your state can get rich, so can you.
如果你所在的城市里有人能致富，你也可以;如果你們國家的其他人都能致富，你也可以。
Again, it is not a matter of choosing some particular business or profession.
再重申一次，人的貧富狀況與職業或行業無關。
People get rich in every business, and in every profession; while their next door neighbors in the same vocation remain in poverty.
這世上沒有哪種職業能保證你一定能夠成為百萬富翁，更不存在只賠不賺的倒霉行業。
It is true that you will do best in a business which you like, and which is congenial to you;
確實，只要你喜歡并適合你的業務，你就能全力以赴做得最好;
and if you have certain talents which are well developed, you will do best in a business which calls for the exercise of those talents.
如果你有某種發展良好的才能，就會在需要發揮這些才能的行業中取得不俗的成績。
Also, you will do best in a business which is suited to your locality;
還有，你將在適合你的業務領域大展拳腳；
an ice-cream parlor would do better in a warm climate than in Greenland,
誰都知道南方的雪糕店生意一一定會比格陵蘭島的紅火:
and a salmon fishery will succeed better in the Northwest than in Florida, where there are no salmon.
而如果想從事大馬哈魚養殖業，那么西北部海域適宜的自然條件一定會讓你賺得盆滿缽滿。
But, aside from these general limitations, getting rich is not dependent upon your engaging in some particular business,
但是，除了這些一般的限制之外，致富并不在于你從事某種特定職業，
but upon your learning to do things in a Certain Way.
學習和掌握某種一特殊的方式才是幫助成功致富的密鑰。
If you are now in business, and anybody else in your locality is getting rich in the same business, while you are not getting rich,
如果你正在做生意，而你所在地區的其他人都在同一行業中變得富有，而你并沒有。
it is because you are not doing things in the same Way that the other person is doing them.
那原因只有一個，即你們采用的是不同的做事方式。
No one is prevented from getting rich by lack of capital.
缺乏原始資本并不是我們致富道路上最大的絆腳石。
True, as you get capital the increase becomes more easy and rapid;
當然，在充裕的資本的幫助下，我們的確能夠更快更容易地致富，
but one who has capital is already rich, and does not need to consider how to become so.
可事實上，雄厚的資本往往是那些富人們才有的專利。
