Round and round the fire
一圈又一圈地圍著篝火
Leaping through the flames, or joined in circles,
或加入舞伴們的圓圈，或穿過熊熊火焰
Rustically solemn or in rustic laughter
婆娑起舞，質(zhì)樸而嚴(yán)肅，或發(fā)出村野的笑聲
Lifting heavy feet in clumsy shoes,
提起穿著笨拙的鞋子的沉重的腳，
Earth feet, loam feet, lifted in country mirth
泥腳，沾著沃土的腳、
Mirth of those long since under earth
沉浸在村野的歡樂——那久遠(yuǎn)以來
Nourishing the corn, Keeping time,
在地里滋育谷物的
Keeping the rhythm in their dancing
人們的歡樂之中。
As in their living in the living seasons
他們按著生命的不同季節(jié)安排生活一樣。
The time of the seasons and the constellations
有四季更替和星辰出沒的時間
The time of milking and the time of harvest
有擠奶的時間和收獲的時間
The time of the coupling of man and woman
有男人和女人匹配成婚的時間
And that of beasts. Feet rising and falling,
也有野獸交配的時間。兩腳提起和放下。
Eating and drinking. Dung and death.
吃和喝。拉撒和死亡。
Dawn points, and another day prepares for heat and silence.
東方破曉，另一個白天又為炎熱和寂靜作準(zhǔn)備。
Out at sea the dawn wind wrinkles and slides.
晨風(fēng)在海上吹起了波紋，掠海而去。
I am here or there, or elsewhere. In my beginning.
我在這里或在那里，或在別處。在我的開始中。
