CHAPTER 20 The Hour of Triumph
第二十章 勝利時刻
"Special announcement!" said the loud speaker in a pompous voice.
“現(xiàn)在鄭重宣布！”擴音器用莊嚴的聲音說，
"The management of the fair takes great pleasure in presenting Mr. Homer L. Zuckerman and his famous pig.
“集市主辦人十分榮幸地向大家介紹霍默·L·朱克曼先生和他的大名豬。
The truck bearing this extraordinary animal is now approaching the infield.
裝著這非同尋常的大名豬的卡車正在開進內(nèi)場。
Kindly stand back and give the truck room to proceed!
請大家向后退一退，讓路給卡車開過來！
In a few moments the pig will be unloaded in the special judging ring in front of the grandstand, where a special award will be made.
過幾分鐘，這只豬將放到大看臺前面專門的評選圍欄里，要頒發(fā)一個特別獎給它。
Will the crowd please make way and let the truck pass. Thank you."
請大家讓一讓，讓卡車開過來。謝謝。
Wilbur trembled when he heard this speech.
威爾伯聽到這番話，渾身都發(fā)抖了。
He felt happy but dizzy.
它覺得快活，但頭有點暈乎乎。
The truck crept along slowly in low speed.
卡車慢慢地低速開行。
Crowds of people surrounded it,
人群圍著它，
and Mr. Arable had to drive very carefully in order not to run over anybody.
阿拉布爾先生開得非常小心，免得撞了人。
At last he managed to reach the judges' stand.
最后他總算開到評獎員席前。
Avery jumped out and lowered the tailgate.
艾弗里跳下車，放下尾板。
"I'm scared to death," whispered Mrs. Zuckerman.
“我嚇得要死，”朱克曼太太悄悄說，
"Hundreds of people are looking at us."
“幾百幾千人在看著我們。”
"Cheer up," replied Mrs. Arable, "this is fun."
“鼓起勁來，”阿拉布爾太太說，“這很好玩。”
