So I was talking about this with my friend Kenji who's a local doctor

And he invited me over for dinner and I met his mother-in-law, Fujiko san who's a wonderful lady

She's actually in her 70's and she swore to me that she doesn't dye her hair
70多歲了，她保證頭發(fā)沒(méi)有染過(guò)
So that alone made me convince whatever she was doing was healthy

And she showed me how she cooked her pig
她告訴我怎么做豬肉
So looking at that dish there, you see how much meat is in that dish
注意看這個(gè)菜里面放了多少豬肉
How many people do you think she's feeding there

Okay, it was for the okazu, look at all those dishes and that was the meat for the dish; those were the pig, okay
這些叫“御數(shù)”，也就是配菜，所有的肉就那么些
So most of it is vegetables and rice and all these other things that really once again meat is a spice
大多數(shù)都是蔬菜，米飯這些，肉只是配菜而已
And they also have this wonderful thing in Japan, hara hachi bu
另外當(dāng)?shù)剡€有一個(gè)說(shuō)法叫“腹八分”
Does anybody know what that means
有人知道意思嗎
Eat until you're 80% full
只吃到八成飽
You know, I could sell you 10 diet books or I could just tell you hara hachi bu, you know
十本飲食書(shū)籍的作用或許還頂不上這句“腹八分”
It's such a wonderful piece of wisdom and as you said the children are taught that
這是一句充滿智慧的勸誡，如你所說(shuō)這會(huì)教給孩子
It's just the same, the way we say Gesundheit or something
就像我們說(shuō)Gesundheit（祝健康）一樣
You know, you grow up with that idea that you should never eat till you're 100% full, eat 20% less, Wow, brilliant
孩子們會(huì)伴隨著這句話長(zhǎng)大，不要吃百分百飽，少吃兩成，多有智慧
