And Okinawa is like Hawaii of Japan and we had the words most famous for our military base
沖繩是日本的夏威夷，你們最熟悉的應該是那里的美軍基地
It's much more laid-back culture than the rest of Japan and so on

and the traditional folks there are much more island folks

And as you know, the elders in Okinawa have lived an incredibly long time and they're very healthy

They also happen to have very low rates of breast and prostate cancer, which was one of the things that I was looking at there
其乳腺癌和前列腺癌患病率很低，這就是沖繩吸引我的原因
But the reason that they had me come and teach as a visiting professor in Okinawa

Guess why I was brought there for? To teach nutrition

That this doctor from San Francisco was brought to the place of the longest living people on Earth

to the medical school to teach nutrition

Well, they like me because I've gone to Harvard and they thought that was a nice category and so on and they're very into it

But all the medical students that I was teaching came from the north of Japan
而聽我講課的學生都來自日本北方
They came from places like Hokkaido and Tokyo and Kyoto and really smart wonderful students

but have never left the hospital

They were there to study, none of them had ever been out into the local area at all

And so my job was super easy

I would just run around with my little camera in the markets

And I would interview all the hundred-year-old ladies and take pictures of their foods

and then I would go back to the big medical lecture hall

And you know they all spoke English but their English wasn't so great, So it's good that I have lots of pictures
