The best time and probably the way to do that would not to make the switch in the middle of a semester. Then you have a couple of months to get yourself squared away so that you can go to public school when it starts.

It's weird. I did the opposite. I guess the best way to prepare is be very friendly. You'll make friends. You just have to be open about it. Try not to stay towards yourself, 'cause not everyone's gonna come up to you. You kind of have to be really outgoing.
