So, one of the advantages of having kids is that when you have to give advice to people,
有小孩的一個好處就是當(dāng)你給別人建議前
you can ask yourself, what would I tell my own kids?
你會想，我會給我的孩子什么樣的建議呢？
And actually, you find this really focuses you.
這樣的話，會逼著你思考得更深入
So, even though my kids are little.
我的孩子們目前還小
My two year old today, when I asked what he was gonna be after two?
有天我問兩歲的兒子 “你兩歲之后會怎么樣？”
He said a bat. The correct answer was three.
他說他會變成個蝙蝠，當(dāng)然正確答案是三歲了
But a bat is so much more interesting.
不過，蝙蝠這個答案更有意思
So even though my kids are little,
雖然我的孩子尚小
I already know what I would tell them about startups if they were in college.
我已經(jīng)想好了，當(dāng)他們讀大學(xué)的時候如何跟他們講創(chuàng)業(yè)的事兒
And so that is what I am gonna tell you.
和今天跟大家講的是一樣的
So, you're literally getting what I would give my own kids,
你聽到的內(nèi)容就是我要教給我孩子的
since most of you are young enough to be my own kids.
從你們的年齡來看，可以算是我的“孩子”
All right. So, startups are very counterintuitive.
創(chuàng)業(yè)的思維經(jīng)常與直覺相悖
And I'm not sure exactly why,
我也不清楚為什么
it could be simply because knowledge about them has not permeated our culture yet.
可能是因為創(chuàng)業(yè)思維尚未滲入到我們的文化中
But, whatever the reason, this is an area where you cannot trust you're intuitions all the time.
不管是為什么，創(chuàng)業(yè)中千萬不要一直相信自己的直覺
It's like skiing in that way.
從這個角度來講，有點像滑雪
Any of you guys learn to ski as adults?
有人是成年后才學(xué)滑雪的嗎？
You know, when you're skiing, when you first try skiing and you want to slow down,
此時學(xué)滑雪的話，一開始你想減速
your first impulse is to lean back, just like in everything else,
你會下意識地往后仰，和平時減速的做法一樣
but lean back on skis and you fly down the hill out of control, so, as I learned.
但是，滑雪時往后仰會失控地沖向山下，我深有體會
So, part of learning to ski is learning to suppress that impulse.
因此，滑雪的技巧之一就是學(xué)會抑制后仰的沖動
Eventually, you get new habits.
練習(xí)久了，就熟能生巧了
But in the beginning there's this list of things you're trying to remember as you start down the hill.
剛開始學(xué)滑雪時候要牢記好多注意事項
You know, like alternate feet, make s-turns, do not drag the inside foot, all this stuff.
例如，交叉雙腿，轉(zhuǎn)彎，不要動靠內(nèi)彎的腿，諸如此類
Well, startups are as unnatural as skiing and there is a similar list of stuff you have to remember for startups
