Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,

Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,

毒氣！毒氣！兄弟們，快！——一陣狂亂的摸索，剛剛掐著時(shí)間套好笨拙的面具；
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling, And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime...
但是仍有人在呼救，在蹣跚、在掙扎，一邊掙扎，好像人掉進(jìn)了烈火和石灰…
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
屋外灰蒙蒙一片，透過(guò)掛滿露珠的窗玻璃和窗外泛著濃綠色的光線，我看到他淹沒(méi)在綠色的海洋里。
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
在我所有的夢(mèng)中，在我感到無(wú)助和恐怖的時(shí)刻，他總是沖向我，一會(huì)兒在水中左右搖擺、掙扎，被水淹沒(méi)，

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory,
我的朋友，你就不會(huì)帶著如此高漲的豪情向那些燃燒著榮耀欲火的孩子們宣諭，
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori.
那古老的謊言：“美哉！宜哉！”為祖國(guó)犧牲愉快而又光榮。
