Dong Xuegang, the director and party head of the Yuncheng city Economic and Information Technology Commission, fell from a residential building at about 7 a.m. on September 14. Dong had been brought in for questioning by anti-graft officials twice. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 8, the provincial anti-corruption commission arrived in Yuncheng for an investigation into Wang Maoshe, the city's former party chief. Dong has been accused of bribing Wang to attain his position. Sources in the province told Caixin dozens of mid-level officials in the cities of Yuncheng and Luliang have been placed under investigation over the past several months.
