In today's podcast, China Mobile creates a mixed-share company for its content businesses.
China Mobile has opened a new firm which will move its content services to a company with an equity structure that will allow for non-state, private and even foreign investment. A source close to China Mobile said the company's music, video and games services will all be moved to the management of the new company. The central government has long discussed introducing mixed-ownership reforms to state-owned enterprises. The reforms are expected to allow non-state capital investment in more state projects and address the preferential treatment and poor efficiency of state-owned enterprises. China Mobile began to make progress on its mixed-ownership drive around six months ago, source with knowledge of the matter told Caixin.
