【語法用法】
result from意為“因……而起”，而result in表示“導致……的結果”。
Success results from hard working.
成功來自努力工作。
[Hard working results in success.
努力工作成就成功。}
有時候result與results可竄用。
The result(s) of the examination will be published early in August.
考試的結果會在八月初公布。
句子類型The result is that she become a greater fool than before在口語中常省略句首的the；
as a result of普遍被應用，而as the result則不常用；
with the result后常接that從句。
My room was small and looked out on a narrow courtyard, with the result that I always felt fenced in.

【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: He must have felt tired and that tiredness may have resulted in him falling asleep.
訂正: He must have felt tired and that tiredness may have resulted in his falling asleep.
翻譯: 他應該是感到累了，因為勞累導致他睡著了。
分析: result in后面跟的him falling asleep不符合語法。
【詞義辨析】
1.arise, originate, result
這些動詞均有“起源，源自”之意。
arise多與from連用，側重指從無到有的產生，表一種因果關系。
originate強調產生變化的起源。
result側重變化的最終結果。
2.consequence, result, effect, outcome
這些名詞均含“結果”之意。
consequence多指隨某一事件引起的，必然或自然的不良結果，不強調直接的因果關系，而側重事件發展的邏輯關系。
result普通用詞，含義廣泛，側重因某種原因所產生的最終結果，而不是眼前的結果。
effect指因某種原因直接產生的結果，著重持續穩定與其影響。
outcome普通用詞，多指事物經過一系列發展變化所導致的最終結局，而不是某種原因的直接結果。常可與result通用。
【例句用法】
These problems are the result of years of bad management.
這些問題是由于多年管理不善而造成的。
If this football team doesn't get a result tonight, they will be put down into a lower division.

二.repeat：n.重復, 反復 v.重復, 復述 adj.重復的, 反復的
【詞義辨析】
cite, quote, repeat
這些動詞均含“引用，復述”之意。
cite指引經據典以示證明或憑據。
quote指不加剪裁的直接引用原文或原話。
repeat僅強調口頭或筆頭重復別人的話或字句，并不必指明出處。
【例句用法】
He repeated her statement word for word.
他一字不差地重復她的話。
I wish we could see more new programmes on television, not repeats all the time.
我真希望我們能夠看到更多新的電視節目，而不是翻來覆去的那幾個老節目。
