There was a mighty pole in the cave, green wood of the olive tree.
洞穴里有一根巨大的柱子，是綠色的橄欖樹(shù)木。
Of this Ulysses cut off a piece, sharpened it, hardened it in the fire, and hid it away. At evening the giant came back,
尤利西斯切斷了一根，將它削尖，用火將它變堅(jiān)硬，將它藏起來(lái)，晚上巨人回來(lái)了，
and, having done his work, feasted as before. Then Ulysses came forward with the wine-skin,
和往常一樣做他的工作，并享用晚餐，之后尤利西斯拿著酒囊走上前，
and said, Drink, Polyphemus, and see what precious things we had on our ship.
說(shuō)到喝吧，波呂斐摩斯，看看我們從船上帶來(lái)的珍貴物品。
The giant drank and was pleased; he said, Give me again to drink, and tell me your name. I will give you a gift such as a host should give his guest.
巨人喝下后很高興，說(shuō)道讓我再喝一些，然后告訴我你的名字，我將給你一樣禮物，就像主人給客人一樣。
Ulysses gave him the cup and he drank. Thrice he gave it to him, and the giant drank, not knowing how it would work upon him.
尤利西斯給了他杯子，他喝了起來(lái)，他給了他三次，巨人都喝下了，不知道這種酒會(huì)給他帶來(lái)什么。
Then Ulysses said, You asked my name, Polyphemus. My name is No Man. Now I ask you for the gift.
之后尤利西斯說(shuō)，你問(wèn)我的名字，波呂斐摩斯，我叫“無(wú)人”，我現(xiàn)在找你要禮物。
The giant answered, My gift shall be that I will eat you last of all.
巨人回答道，我的禮物就是最后吃掉你。
Then he fell into a drunken sleep, and Ulysses bade his comrades be of good cheer.
之后他就因?yàn)轱嬀贫诉^(guò)去，尤利西斯吩咐他的兄弟們不要垂頭喪氣。
Quickly they thrust the stake of wood into the fire until it was ready to burst into flame.
他們馬上將木頭放入火上，直到它們可以變成大火。
With it they put out the monster's eye, for he had but one eye, which was in the middle of his forehead.
他們用燃燒的木頭摳出了巨人的眼睛，他只有一只眼睛，就在額頭正中央。
The giant leaped and cried aloud with pain, so that other Cyclops heard him and came about the cave asking him,
巨人跳了起來(lái)，并痛苦地大叫，其它獨(dú)眼巨人聽(tīng)到了他，來(lái)到洞穴詢問(wèn)他的情況，
What ails you, Polyphemus? Is anyone robbing you or seeking to slay you?
波呂斐摩斯，你遇到了什么麻煩？是有人搶劫還是試圖殺死你？
And the giant answered, No Man slays me by craft. If no man hurts you, we cannot help you, said the others, and went away.
巨人回答道，“無(wú)人”用詭計(jì)殺我，如果沒(méi)人傷害你，我們無(wú)法幫助你，其他人說(shuō)道，并走開(kāi)了。
