Great was the joy of Troy when it was reported that the men of Greece had departed. The gates were opened,

and the people went forth to see the plain and the camp. They stood and marveled at the great horse of wood.

Then he cast his spear against the horse, and it gave forth a hollow sound. But the people did not heed him.
于是他就用槍刺那木馬，木馬里面發出低沉的空響聲。百姓卻不聽從他。
All cried together that the horse of wood must be brought inside the city.
眾人一齊喊著說，必須把那匹木馬弄進來。
At once they opened the gates of the city and pulled down the adjoining wall and put rollers under the feet of the horse.
他們立刻打開城門，把鄰墻推倒，把輪子放在馬蹄下。
So in much joy they drew it into the city by means of ropes, youths and maidens singing about it the while,
他們就歡歡喜喜地用繩子把它拉進城去，少年人和使女就在那里歌唱，
and laying their hands to the ropes with great gladness. When night was fully come and the men of Troy lay asleep, lo!
歡歡喜喜地把手搭在繩子上。夜幕降臨，特洛伊人都睡著了，你看！
from the ship of Agamemnon there rose a flame for a signal to all the Greeks.
從阿伽門農船上升起火焰，向所有的希臘人發出信號。
These at once manned their ships and rowed across the sea. Within the city was a Greek spy,

who had gained entrance to the city by pretending that he was fleeing from the Greeks because they were about to slay him.

So at last the Greek hosts swept through the streets. They took Troy with all its rich treasures,
