SIGURD SAVES THE PRINCESS
西格德救出公主
As Sigurd stood looking down at the body of the monster, a strange and beautiful thing happened.
當西格德站在那里低頭看著怪物的尸體時，一件奇怪而美好的事情發生了。
He heard the birds singing in the trees, and suddenly he found that he could understand their language.
他聽到鳥兒在樹上唱歌，他突然發現自己能聽懂它們的語言。
One said, "Sigurd has killed the terrible dragon.
其中一只說：“西格德殺死了可怕的龍。
He will have great praise for this deed."
他的英勇事跡將為人們津津樂道。”
Another said, "The treasure-house is full of gold.
另一只說：“寶庫里裝滿了金子。
Sigurd may now take it for his own."
西格德現在可以把它據為己有了。”
The third said, "The gold will not bring happiness to him. But Sigurd should wear the helmet and armor which are with the gold."
第三只說：“黃金不會給他帶來幸福，但是西格德應該穿戴鑲有黃金的頭盔和盔甲。”
The fourth said, "A beautiful princess lies asleep in a castle. She will not awake until Sigurd comes."
第四只說：“一位美麗的公主躺在城堡里睡覺，西格德來了她才會醒過來。”
The fifth said, "If Sigurd wishes to save the princess, he must go through the wall of fire."
第五只說：“如果西格德想救公主，就必須穿過火墻。”
Then Sigurd thought, "I will get the helmet and the armor, and I will save the princess."
然后西格德想：“我去拿頭盔和盔甲，救出公主。”
So he followed the track of the dragon, and it led him to the treasure-house.
于是他順著龍的足跡，來到了寶庫。
There he saw great heaps of gold.
在那里他看到了一大堆金子。
Sigurd found there, too, the helmet and the armor which the bird had said he would find.
西格德還找到了那只鳥說的頭盔和盔甲。
He put them on, for he thought he might need them when he came to pass through the wall of fire.
他穿戴好頭盔和盔甲，因為他想穿過火墻的時候可能用的上。
Then he set out to find the sleeping princess.
接著出發去找熟睡的公主。
"How shall I find the castle of the princess?" thought Sigurd.
“我怎么才能找到公主的城堡呢?”西格德想。
But he was not afraid, for his victory over the dragon had made him even more brave.
但他并不害怕，西格德因為戰勝了龍，所以更加勇敢。
So he rode on and on, until suddenly he saw a light in the distance.
于是他騎啊騎啊，直到他突然看見遠處有燈光。
