Tonino had never before eaten so many different things at one meal.

First, there were olives and radishes and little sardines.

Of course, Tonino had never tasted any in his life.

He thought it so delicious that he wanted to keep half to give to Nanou when he got back to Nouvilo.
他覺得冰淇淋太好吃了，所以想留一半給娜努，等回到Nouvilo拿給她。
He was sorry when he was told that there would be none left when he reached home.
當他得知回到家冰淇淋就化了時，他感到很遺憾。
But he could not help enjoying the rest of his ice-cream himself, since it was impossible to take it to Nanou.
既然冰淇淋不可能帶給娜努了，他忍不住吃完剩下的冰淇淋。
VISITING THE FAIR
逛集市
After lunch they sat at the table for a long time.

Then the pottery-lady had to go back to her shop, and Tonino and Mameto went off to visit the fair.

The donkey race was not to be until four o'clock, when it would be cooler.

Mameto said that as Tonino had earned so much money,

Of course, that was the thing Tonino wanted most of all to do. First he rode on a black horse with a red saddle.

It was great fun riding around and around, with the music playing a gay tune that Tonino had never heard before.

Here he bought two tickets, for Mameto had said that she would like to have a ride in one with him.

They chose a pale blue automobile and whirled around and around to the music.

Mameto said one ride was enough for her, but Tonino had three more rides on the black horse.
