ANDY MAKES A PLAN
安迪制定計劃
Just then Francis Frame came out to the sidewalk and watched the Sunnysiders skate past. Somehow it made Andy feel uncomfortable, for he remembered his promise to let Francis use his skates.
就在這時，弗朗西斯·福雷姆來到了人行道上，看著陽光隊從他面前劃過去。不知為什么，安迪感到很不自在，因為他記得自己承諾過讓弗朗西斯用他的旱冰鞋。
"After this race is over, I'll let him use them all he wants to," he said to himself. "And I'll see that he gets a chance to play with the other boys in this block."
“這場比賽結束后，我讓他想怎么用就這么用。”他對自己說，“而且我保證讓他有機會跟街區其他男孩們一起玩耍。”
Suddenly Andy stopped skating. He had thought of a way to help his team win, and also to help Francis Frame.
突然，安迪停了下來，他想到了一個方法，既能幫助自己的隊取勝，又能幫助到弗朗西斯·福雷姆。
"But I don't want to do it," he said to himself. "It's too late to do anything about it now, and besides, he probably can't skate much. He has long legs, but I don't believe he has any muscle."
“但是我不想那樣做。”他對自己說，“現在做什么都太晚了，而且他可能不會滑冰。他的腿很長，但是我覺得他沒有肌肉。”
Andy went to bed that night still trying to decide what he would do. The next day was Friday, and when he awoke in the morning, he was still thinking about the race.
那天晚上，安迪上床睡覺時還在思考他該怎么做。第二天是星期五，他早晨醒來時仍在想著比賽的事情。
Buddy stopped for him on the way to school, and all that the two boys talked about was the race.
巴迪在去學校的路上停下來等他，兩個男孩談論的都是比賽的事情。
"Do you really think we can win?" asked Andy.
“你真的認為我們會贏嗎？”安迪問。
"Of course," Buddy replied. "We just have to win. The Shadysiders beat us last year, but we're not going to let them do it again."
“當然了，”巴迪回答說，“我們必須贏！去年陰涼隊打敗了我們，但是我們不會再讓他們打敗了。”
Suddenly Andy knew just what he was going to do. Even though he wasn't a fastskater, he could help his team win the race. And at the same time, he could help Francis make some friends in the neighborhood. Andy could hardly wait for school to close.
安迪突然知道自己該怎么做了。即使他不是一個速滑高手，但是他能夠幫助自己的隊贏得比賽，同時也能幫助弗朗西斯在街區交一些朋友。安迪迫不及待地等著放學。
Finally three o'clock came, and he skated as fast as he could to the home of his new neighbor.
終于到了三點，安迪以最快的速度往他的新鄰居家滑去。
