Andy, the boy in this story, was loyal to his team. So, when he found a way to help the team win the roller skating race, he did what every loyal boy and girl would do. But it meant giving up something that he greatly wanted for himself.
故事中的男孩安迪對他的團隊很忠誠，所以當他發現一個能幫助團隊在滑輪比賽中獲勝的方法時，他做了每一個忠誠的男孩女孩都會做的事情，但是這意味著他要放棄自己非常想要的東西。
ANDY'S NEW NEIGHBOR
安迪的新鄰居
"Hello, hello!" called out a pleasant voice.
“你好，你好。”一個動聽的聲音喊道。
Andy Waters looked up and saw his new neighbor, Francis Frame.
安迪·沃特斯抬起頭，看見了他的新鄰居弗朗西斯·福雷姆。
"Hello, yourself," he shouted cheerfully, as he fastened on his roller skates. "Want to go skating, Francis?"
“你好，就你自己啊，”安迪一邊扣緊他的旱冰鞋，一邊爽朗地喊道。“弗朗西斯，想去滑冰嗎？”
"I can't. I lost my roller skates last fall, and mother says she can't afford to buy me another pair just now."
“我不能去了，去年秋天我弄丟了我的旱冰鞋，媽媽說她眼下不能再給我買一雙了。”
Andy looked at his neighbor's long legs. They were just the right kind, he thought, to make a fast skater.
安迪看著新鄰居的那雙長腿，心想，這真是速滑選手的那種腿啊。
"That's hard luck, Francis, because if you had some roller-skates, maybe you could be in our skating race next Saturday."
“那真是不幸，弗朗西斯。如果你有旱冰鞋的話，或許可以參加我們下周六的旱冰比賽。”
"Skating race? What's that?"
“旱冰比賽是什么樣的比賽？”
"You see," explained Andy, "the boys in our block are going to have a roller-skating race. We've divided into two teams, and there are about five boys on each side. One team is called the Sunnysiders, because they live on the sunny side of this street. The other team is called the Shadysiders, because they live on the shady side. I'm a Sunnysider."
“我跟你說，”安迪解釋說，“我們街區的男孩們要舉行一場旱冰比賽，我們已經分成了兩隊，每隊有五個男孩，一隊叫陽光隊。因為他們住在這條街的陽面，另一隊叫陰涼隊，因為他們住在街的陰面。我是陽光隊的一員。”
"Oh! Don't I wish I had some skates!" cried Francis.

"You see," Andy went on, "the losing team has to treat the winning team to a 'wiener' roast afterwards. I'll have to go now. We're meeting in the vacant lot on the corner to talk over some plans. I'll let you use my skates sometime when I am not using them."
“還有，”安迪接著說，“輸家要請贏家吃烤維也納烤腸，現在我得走了，我們要在拐角的空地上見面，討論一下計劃。我不用旱冰鞋的時候會借你用的。”
