【語法用法】
search作動詞指“尋找”，后面跟尋找的范圍，而search for后面跟尋找的目標，search out則指“找到”。
We are searching the house.
我們正在搜查這房子。
We are searching for the house.
我們將找尋這房子。We will search out the house.
我們將會找到這房子。
search for和search after都有“努力尋找”的意思。偶爾忘記把東西擺放在哪時，通常用look for，而不用search for或search after；
search作名詞，后面跟介詞for，偶爾用of。
She went about the garden in search for/of her lost ring.
她在花園里走動，尋找她的戒指。

錯句: Are they still searching their child?
訂正: Are they still searching for their child?

【詞義辨析】
discover, find, detect, ascertain
這些動詞均有“發現”之意。
discover指發現本來已經存在，后被人認識的事物、真理或情況。
find普通用詞，可指偶然發現，也可指經過尋找后得到或重新獲得已失去的東西。強調動作的結果。
detect正式用詞，強調經過周密觀察或研究而有所獲得和發現，尤指發現有意隱藏之物。
ascertain較正式用詞，指有意搜尋與發現。
