一.act：n. 行為，行動，法案，(戲劇、歌劇等的)一幕，假裝 v. 行動，舉止，假裝，表演，扮演，充當，有效果
【詞義辨析】
1.act, action, deed, operation, performance,
act: 一般指具體的、短暫的或個別的行為，強調行為的完成及其效果。
action: 普通用詞，著重行動的過程。
deed: 較莊重用詞，除泛指各種行為外，還可用于指某種高尚或偉大的行為，故常譯作“功績，業績”。
operation: 多指一連串行動或行為的完成方式。
performance: 主要指行動的方式方法。
2.law, constitution, regulation, code, rule, act,
law: 普通用詞，泛指由最高當局所制訂、立法機構所通過的任何成文或不成文的法規或條例。
constitution: 指治理國家或國家在處理內外政務時所遵循的基本法律和原則；也指規章規則的匯集。
regulation: 普通用詞，指用于管理、指導或控制某系統或組織的規則、規定或原則等。
code: 指某一階層或社會所遵守的一整套法典、法規或法則；也可指與某一特殊活動或主題有關的規則。
rule: 通常指機關、團體的規章、條例或比賽規則；也指對人行為、方法等所作的規定，還可指習俗所承認的規定。
act: 指經立法機構通過并由行政管理簽署的法案。
【詞語用法】
1.act與action 的區別：
act指短暫，簡單的動作，而action指持續，復雜的動作。
使用act of cruelty,act of kindness,act of madness時（后都是接of和抽象名詞）只用act,不用action。
cruel act(ion),foolish act(ion)等，均是前面用形容詞，更慣于使用action。
act比action具體，action比act抽象，如in word and act中word與act均是具體的，in speech and action中，speech與action都屬抽象的；
2.act the hero (裝出英雄氣概），act the child (做出兒童模樣）等表達方式里多用the,而不用a；
3.當著重點在那個人當時的情況時，act后多使用形容詞，而不是副詞，例如下句中用natural而不用naturally：
At first he was a little shy in class, but now he acts more natural.
4.有時act +形容詞意為“假裝得…似的”。
Even elephants have been known to act dead.
【例句用法】
1.Think well before you act.
要三思而后行。
2.Parliament has passed an Act forbidding the killing of rare animals.
國會通過了一項法令，禁止捕殺珍稀動物。
二.concern：n. 關心，關心的事，憂慮 vt. 涉及，影響，關心 n. 公司，企業
【詞語用法】
1.so far as ... is/are concerned，as far as ... is/are concerned，so far as concerns和as concerns都是“就...而言”的意思。注意后兩種表達中concerns用復數不用單數；
2.concern to后加不同動詞有不同目的。
He was concerned to hear of her ill health.
to hear表示原因
He was concerned to improve her health.
to improve表示目的
3.concern后加不同介詞時，表示不同意思。
He was concerned about the matter.
他為了這件事關心或擔心。
He was concerned in the matter.
他參與了這件事。
He was concerned with the matter.
他跟這件事有關。
4.be concerned with常與concern意思相同，concerned with常與concerning意思相同。下面兩句子意思一樣：
The story is concerned with a national hero.
The story concerns a national hero.
這個故事牽涉到一個民族英雄。
5.concerned等于that is concerned或who are concerned，如everybody concerned (每個有關的人)，all concerned (有關各方) 和the department concerned (有關部門）。注意that is不可寫出；
6.your concern for me意為“你對于我的關懷”，your concern over me 意為“你對于我的擔心”；
7.To whom it may concern或To Whom It May Concern用在不指明收信者是誰的信里，當作稱呼語。這種信通常沒有Yours，turely等信尾客套語。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句：We are all concerned with his health.
糾正：We are all concerned for his health.
翻譯：我們都很擔心他的身體健康。
分析：be concerned with意為“與……有關”，be concerned for/about意為“為……擔心”。
【例句用法】
1.This restaurant is a family concern.
這家飯店是由一家人經營的。
2.These problems concern all of us.
這些問題影響到我們每一個人。
3.How much money I earn is none of your concern.
我掙多少錢與你無關。
