一.odd：adj. 奇數的，古怪的，零散的，剩余的
【詞義辨析】
queer, odd, funny, crazy, curious, peculiar, strange, eccentric, quaint, singular,
queer: 指一種無法解釋的怪誕，強調事物的奇特和不可思議。
odd: 通常指不規律、偶爾出現的人或事物，往往令人困惑或奇怪。
funny: 較通俗用詞，指奇怪得滑稽可笑或反常。
crazy: 多指與眾不同的行為、外表或人與物本身，含荒唐可笑或神經不正常的意味。
curious: 通常指非常特別或能引起注意、研究或探索的奇特。
peculiar: 側重令人奇怪的或獨一無二的特性，也指性格特征方面顯著的與眾不同之處。
strange: 普通常用詞，含義廣泛，指陌生新奇、奇怪、奇怪或不自然的人或物。
eccentric: 指偏離常規的怪異或怪癖。
quaint: 指古色古香，會人感到既奇怪又有趣。
singular: 通常指異常或奇特，暗含不同于一般。
【詞語用法】
odd作形容詞指“多余的”，其詞組forty odd，forty-odd，forty and odd都指“四十幾多，不到五十”。

1.decease, disease,
decease: ／di'si: s／是“死亡”、“去世”；與death相比，decease是正式用語，常見于法律條文中。
Upon the decease of so-and-so，the sum of money will pass to his wife and children.
某某死后，整筆錢歸他妻子及兒女所有。
The decease rate in that country is very high.
那個國家的死亡率很高。
The general's decease left the army without a leader.
將軍死亡使這支軍隊群龍無首。
disease: ／di'zi:z／是“患病”、“疾病”。acute disease是“急性病”；chronic disease是“慢性病”； family disease是“遺傳病”。
The task of a doctor is to prevent or cure diseases.
醫生的職責是預防或冶療疾病。
Nowadays more and more people treat diseases by acupuncture.
如今愈來愈多人用針灸治療疾病。
Your right lung is diseased.
你的右肺有病。
2.illness, sickness, disease, complaint,
illness: 不具體指，而是泛指一切疾病，強調生病的時間或狀態，語體較sickness正式一些。
sickness: 較口語化，可與illness換用，但還可表示“惡心”。
disease: 指具體的疾病，且通常較嚴重，發病時間也較長。
complaint: 現代英語中，既可指癥狀，也可指疾病。
