1. asleep 是表語形容詞，所以一般不能單獨放在名詞前作定語:
正：The baby is asleep. 這嬰兒是睡著的。
誤：Look at the asleep baby.
正：Look at the sleeping baby. 瞧這個睡覺的嬰兒。
asleep 雖不能單獨放在名詞前作前位定語，但有時卻可放在名詞后作后置定語，另外若它本身受到狀語修飾，則也可以放在名詞前作定語。
如：Who is that fast asleep boy? 那個熟睡的孩子是誰?
