本劇主要講述住在紐約長(zhǎng)島的西佛一家的日常生活故事，是中國(guó)大陸較早引進(jìn)的國(guó)外情景喜劇，在中國(guó)從1990年一直播出至1994年。1990年代初期一經(jīng)播出就引發(fā)了收視高潮，片中邁克開(kāi)朗調(diào)皮的形象為廣大觀眾所喜愛(ài)。而劇中西佛醫(yī)生對(duì)子女采取啟發(fā)式教育的方式，也讓觀眾得到啟示。
Mike: This is it - my Springsteen tickets.
麥克：是我的，一定是音樂(lè)會(huì)的票，
Maggie: When did they outgrow skateboards?
瑪吉：他們什么時(shí)候才能討厭溜冰板呢？
Jason: When you buy them a Camaro.
詹森：等你一架照相機(jī)，
Mike: Yeah. Ok, bye.
麥克：對(duì)，好的，再見(jiàn)！
Jason: Gonna see Springsteen, ah?
麥克：要去聽(tīng)音樂(lè)會(huì)，嗯？
Mike: Yeah, tomorrow night. It's gonna be awesome. Ladies and gentlemen the boss…
麥克：對(duì)，是明天晚上，一定很精彩，女士們，先生們，演出開(kāi)始！
Carol: Wait, wait. I thought the Springsteen's concert was sold out.
卡羅爾：可我聽(tīng)說(shuō)音樂(lè)會(huì)的票早就賣光了，
Mike: Sold out? Carol, to a man with connections, nothing's ever sold out. That just happened to be Seth Jameson, nephew of the man whose brother-in-law owns the hot dog concession of the coliseum.
麥克：賣光了？嗨，Carol，對(duì)路子多的人來(lái)說(shuō)，什么賣不到？剛才的電話就是塞特吉姆森，他叔叔的小舅子在體育館里面有個(gè)賣小吃的攤位，
Jason: Wow.
詹森：哇噢！
Carol: So, did you get tickets?
卡羅爾：那你弄到票了嗎？
Mike: Did I get the tickets? Of course, I got tickets.
麥克：我弄到?jīng)]有，票當(dāng)然弄到了，
Carol: You did? Springsteen?
卡羅爾：弄到了？聽(tīng)音樂(lè)會(huì)？
Mike: Well, no. To the Icecapades. We have got very good seats, and two free hot dogs.
麥克：不，是喝冰酸梅湯，那的座位很舒服，還免費(fèi)送2個(gè)熱狗，
Carol: Talk about connections. Are those all-beef dogs?
卡羅爾：嗯，講到關(guān)系門(mén)路，那么熱狗是...純牛肉的嗎？
Maggie: Oh, it's too bad about the concert. You must be disappointed.
瑪吉：音樂(lè)會(huì)的票那么難搞，你一定很失望吧？
Mike: Oh, no. I still got a couple of things going. I'll get the tickets. Alright, this is it. Hello, yes. Talk to me. Yeah, yeah. Ok, yeah I'll see you.
麥克：噢，不，沒(méi)有問(wèn)題，辦法有的是，票我準(zhǔn)能搞到，你看，辦法來(lái)了，喂，對(duì)，你說(shuō)吧，哦，是的，對(duì)，好吧，會(huì)頭再說(shuō)吧！
Jasen: No dice?
詹森：不行了嗎？
Mike: No. Jerry was sure he'd be able to get those tickets from his friend Chichi, but...
麥克：杰力原來(lái)說(shuō)他的朋友“蛐蛐”能幫我們搞到票的，
Maggie: Chichi? Jason, our son knows people named Chichi?
瑪吉：蛐蛐？Jason，他居然認(rèn)識(shí)一個(gè)叫“蛐蛐”的人，
Jasen: Maggie, we cannot judge somebody's on the base of a name. Anyway, Mike you will say.
詹森：噢，mage，你怎么能從一個(gè)人的名字來(lái)判斷一個(gè)人呢。Mike,請(qǐng)往下說(shuō)，
Mike: Yes, Chichi's parole officer didn't think it would be such a good idea for him to scout tickets so close to the trial.
麥克：蛐蛐都快被審判了，可是他還在倒騰票呢，蛐蛐的假釋監(jiān)督人認(rèn)為這樣不好，
Jasen: Good judgments there Chichi.
詹森：你可真有眼力，蛐蛐，
Maggie: We are sorry, honey.
瑪吉：太遺憾了，寶貝，
