sophisticated: having a refined knowledge of the ways of the world cultivated especially through wide experience，也就是說見過世面的，有閱歷的。這是一個很容易被誤譯的單詞，字典里給出的解釋是“詭辯的, 久經世故的”，但其實這個單詞可以是褒義詞（如同在這句話的解釋），也可以是貶義詞，解釋為deprived of native or original simplicity，即“老于世故”的，但后者出現的情況不是很多。

Serena 去找Chuck, 正好碰見那個日本空姐，于是就聊起Chuck糜爛的sex life，只見Chuck一臉郁悶狀，Serena恍然大悟，原來Chuck最近在sex方面是“屢敗屢戰，屢戰屢敗”。Chuck解釋說是因為有些 blockage，他想到了找Blair來clear the pipes.
關鍵的地方來了。blockage本意是阻塞，你家的水管堵住了，就用blockage.而clear the pipe就是疏通管道。上文和下文是對應的，但這里用的是字面意思背后的metaphor. pipe, 可以用來指dick(omg, 希望沒有人再用Dick這個英文名字了)，而clear the pipe就是指you receive an orgasm from a girl; usually its when you haven't received sex in a while. 另外說一下，pipe這個單詞除了指dick, 還可以用來指blow job, 來源據說是法語里一摸一樣拼寫的pipe, 讀做"peep". (恩…這些單詞都是當年看sex and the city學來的)
至于后面Serena叫Chuck不要把Blair當作是sexual Drano, 這里的Drano是一個排水管清潔劑的品牌，人家的作用就是用來clear the pipes的。
3. -You like him. He likes you. So just call him.

He stood me up: 放我鴿子，讓我空等一場。后面Vanessa看見Catherine和Nate在一起，就質問Is that the reason you keep canceling on me? 這句話也可以表示放鴿子的意思。
另外stand up for sb.可以解釋為support. 后面有一個場景，Dan在公園里遇到三個小妹妹，很老成的在評論Dan與Serena復合的事情，其中有個小姑娘說Your whole breakup? We're on your side. 這句We’re on your side意思是“我們站在你這一邊”，和stand up for是一個意思。
