99.消防站的新領(lǐng)導(dǎo)
That Mark led the team gave John a turn.
馬克指揮消防隊(duì)讓約翰吃了一驚。
When the alarm went off that there was another fire, it was Mark who gave the green light to go!
當(dāng)警報(bào)響起報(bào)告火災(zāi)的時(shí)候，居然是馬克在發(fā)號(hào)施令！
Everyone then watched him for direction, glancing at him frequently to know what to do next.
大家都聽他指揮，他們經(jīng)常看他一眼好明白下一步該怎么做。
It was hard to go about his business under someone else's guidance, but John had to give Mark credit; he was doing a good job.
其他人指揮的時(shí)候約翰是很難干自己的事的，但約翰得表揚(yáng)馬克，他的確干得不錯(cuò)。
The fire soon gave way to the efforts of the rescue team and they were able to return to the firehouse.
在救援小組的努力下，大火很快就屈服了，消防隊(duì)員回到了消防站。
"So what did you glean from your first experience as team leader?" John asked Mark back at the station.
"第一次當(dāng)消防隊(duì)的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)你從中獲得了什么經(jīng)驗(yàn)？"回到消防站約翰問馬克。
"That I owe everything to you. You taught me well, John.

You gave me the works and you never gave up pushing me to be better than the others.
你對我要求嚴(yán)格，而且從來都沒有放棄過對我的培養(yǎng)，一定要讓我比別人強(qiáng)。
Now I am, and you can rely on me whenever you need me."
現(xiàn)在我已經(jīng)超過了別人，用得著的時(shí)候你盡管找我。"
Mark was glowing with confidence, gliding along the floor like he was on air!
馬克洋溢著自信，得意洋洋地從地板上滑過。
"You don't want to give it up as a bad job anymore?" John asked.
"你不再認(rèn)為這是一份不好的工作而想放棄嗎？"約翰問。
"No, sir! It didn't get across to me well there for a while. But now I think I've found my niche!"
"不，先生！在一段時(shí)間里我沒有透徹理解這份工作。但現(xiàn)在我想我找到了合適的位置。"
And given that he had performed so well, John didn't want him to quit anymore either.
考慮到他的工作是那么出色，約翰也不想讓他離開了。
Mark was now glued to the fire station, ready to fill in whenever John couldn't handle the pressure.
馬克現(xiàn)在是決不離開消防站，只要約翰忙不過來，他隨時(shí)準(zhǔn)備填空補(bǔ)缺。
As John was walking across the room he realized that he was relieved.
約翰從房間走過的時(shí)候他感覺他可以松口氣了。
He needed someone else capable of leading. Being at the top was lonely.
他需要有個(gè)具備領(lǐng)導(dǎo)才能的人幫他。身居髙位其實(shí)是孤獨(dú)的。
